I always do a full image (not bit by bit) to an external drive, USB, now external ESATA. I’ve used with XP, Vista, and Windows 7 32 & 64 bit. Pros: Bought the original copy from Newegg as a download, then upgraded. Norton Users: You won't be dissapointed with Acronis, but don't expect it to knock your socks off either. I had heard great things about Acronis over the past ten years so I thought I'd give it a go.

It would be a much better value if it was a 3-PC license or some other 'Home Use' license. Though a little pesistance will help you through it. It also has nice day-to-day backup features, though I'm only seriously interested in it's full Imaging functionality.Ĭons: The user interface is close to horrid. It worked like a champ, shrinking the partitions as needed with very little know-how needed on my part. Pros: I bought this to move multiple partitions, including my 64-Bit Win 7 boot partition, from my old 300Gb hard drive to my new 240Gb SSD.

How about the software publisher piracy when an incomplete software program is sold to the consumer & the consumer loses their money plus their "leased" software because they are not smarter than the tech support people? To me, selling a defective product is also piracy! Overall Review: The constant crying by the software publishers about piracy is an affront. Most computer users are not qualified to make registry entry changes, therefore the software is now toast because of the software fragmants left behind that need to be edited from the registry! Also, if the registry edits are incorrect the computer becomes toast because the operating system is now toast. Once the key has been entered it is stored in the registry & the software installer will no longer work until the entry is deleted from the registry if the installation is corrupted. The Acronis tech support people are not too helpful.
